OLY Workshops Bring Quality Principles to Life
Minneapolis employees are strengthening their quality culture through the new OLY Workshops, a hands-on training program focused on practical tools and real operational challenges.
Our Minneapolis, MN locations are serious about Quality education. And by serious, we mean – they created a fun, hands-on program to educate employees about quality principles, skills and tools. Pedro Garcia, Quality Manager, proposed a 10-month program called OLY Workshops that will strengthen practical quality skills, reinforce continuous improvement and build a strong Quality culture across the organization. This interactive, team-based workshop focuses on applying quality tools to real operational challenges.
Pedro explains, “The OLY Workshops intentionally strengthen our quality culture across the organization and translate quality principles into our daily operational behavior. While quality systems, procedures and standards exist, sustainable excellence requires more than documentation. It requires consistent understanding of quality tools, cross-functional collaboration, practical application of principles on real-time shop floor challenges, visible leadership commitment and employee engagement/ownership. The workshops create the structure to make this happen.”
Beginning in February, OLY Workshops will be held monthly and are designed to achieve the following:
- Improve problem-solving capability
- Strengthen process standardization
- Enhance operational efficiency
- Improve Safety awareness
- Drive continuous improvement habits
- Build cross-functional collaboration
- Reinforce leadership commitment to Quality
A schedule has been developed through June that includes the following topics:
- Root Cause Analysis and 5 Whys: Identify and eliminate root causes
- SIPOC: Understand the process end-to-end
- 5S: Workplace organization and discipline
- Standard Work: Define and follow the best way to work
- Poka Yokes: Error prevention by design
The OLY Workshops are more than just training sessions, they’re an opportunity to develop a stronger culture of quality. By bringing employees together to learn, collaborate and apply practical tools to real challenges, the program helps turn quality principles into everyday habits. As the workshops continue throughout the year, employees will gain skills that not only improve processes and efficiency but also provide a safe, more engaged workplace for everyone.
