Meet Jim Luebke, Purchasing & Materials Manager and Member of our ONE OLYMPIC Policy & Program Review Subcommittee.
Two years ago, Olympic Steel established the employee-run ONE OLYMPIC Team. These individuals volunteered to take part in this work of building culture and community to help attract, develop and retain the top talent in the metals and manufacturing industry - this, in addition to their regular job duties.

Q: What motivated you to become a member of our ONE OLYMPIC Team?
A:
“I strongly believe in the culture of this company and its importance to our collective success. I want to help make lasting improvements to our company culture.”
Q: Can you share a unique fun fact or characteristic about yourself?
A: “I was born on Leap Year Day, so I'm only 14+ years old. I completed three marathons in my younger, skinnier days.”
Q: What’s your favorite thing about being an Olympic Steel employee?
A: “It's always about the people! I love the thrill of working together and watching the success that follows.”
Q: In your opinion, what's a simple action everyone can take to make our Company a welcoming workplace?
A: “Take the time to be a good listener. Be approachable and authentic.”
Q: When it comes to work, what’s your “superpower”? What’s a special skill you can offer to support your co-workers/team?
A: “I have many years of experience to tap into, which helps navigate the more frequent ups and downs of the market. I value the opinions of others and believe in getting consensus when making tough decisions.”
Q: What cultural/heritage celebration or tradition holds special meaning for you? Mind sharing why?
A:
“It has to be Christmas. I always ask myself why every day can't be like Christmas, gathering with friends and family and enjoying being together. I love that the world stops for a day, most stores are closed, and it's peaceful and joyful.”
