Get to Know Ryerson: REHSQ

You may have seen the REHSQ logo on the Summer Safety banner hanging in your facility or on other communications from Ryerson. If not, you’ll see it soon – and here’s what it means.

Summer Safety 2026 begins June 21 and will run through August 15 as a joint event for Ryerson and Olympic Steel employees. As we kick off Summer Safety activities, you may notice the REHSQ graphic on the banner in your facility. REHSQ (pronounced “RESCUE”) stands for “Ryerson Environment, Health, Safety and Quality,” and it’s the internal brand behind Ryerson initiatives and tools supporting these areas. Learn more about each facet of REHSQ below:

  • (R)yerson refers to the Ryerson Family of Companies and our network of brands and interconnected service centers spanning North America.
  • (E)nvironment defines our commitment to environmental compliance at the federal, state and local levels. It includes areas like waste and water management, air permitting, spill prevention and emissions reporting.
  • (H)ealth is all about the wellbeing of our people, and it encompasses occupational health considerations including ergonomics, hearing protection and the handling of chemicals.
  • (S)afety means prioritizing safe practices at every step in our daily operations. From PPE to material handling, working safely is a top priority at every Ryerson facility. Safe practices are reinforced by our local safety committees and events like Safety Week and Summer Safety.
  • (Q)uality means adopting a customer-first approach to ensure that needs are understood and met across all areas of our business.

At Ryerson, the environment, health and safety (EHS) team is led by Aimee Nash, Director of EHS, while the quality group is led by Megan Moore, Director of Quality; however, both teams use REHSQ as a symbol of collaboration and shared commitment to operational excellence.

“The REHSQ logo can be found on resources provided by both our safety and quality teams,” explains Aimee. “This includes internal guides, policies, training and apps – and also materials for special events like Summer Safety. It’s a great way to represent the mission of both teams in a consistent way across our business.”
