National Safety Month is in June, but we’re getting started with contests in May.
Participate for a chance to win prizes – for you and your family! Join now through May 20; we’ll kick off National Safety Month with a winner announcement the first week of June.
June is National Safety Month and we’re so excited about sharing ways to Think Safe, Work Safe, and Live Safe – we’re getting started in May! Join one or both contests in May for a chance to win and encourage your teammates to participate in the Teamwork Challenge in June. Read all the details below.
SAFETY FRIENDS COLORING CONTEST WITH SAFETY SLOGAN
- Contest begins: Friday, May 2
- Last day to enter: Tuesday, May 20 (by 5pm – your time)
- Who can participate: Any child 17 years old or younger – your own child, grandchild, niece, nephew, or neighbor
- How to participate: Take a few coloring sheets home. You can find them in your Safety office or CLICK HERE TO PRINT THEM. Your participant will color and complete sheet. Return the completed sheet(s) to your Safety contact by 5pm on Tuesday, May 20.
- What you can win: Twelve (12) $25 Amazon gift cards will be awarded to the Top 12 entries with a nicely colored picture and/or a creative Safety Slogan. Winners will be announced in June.
WHAT DOES SAFETY MEAN TO YOU? CONTEST
- Contest begins: Friday, May 2
- Last day to enter: Tuesday, May 20
- Who can participate: Employees at Olympic Steel and all subsidiaries
- How to participate: Answer the question “What does Safety mean to you?” via Survey Monkey to submit your entry. You can submit as many entries as you’d like.
- What you can win: The Top 3 thoughtful and inspiring answers for each job category (Warehouse, Administration, Sales) will receive a $50 AwardCo credit…for 9 possible winners! Bonus: Your responses will be anonymously shared via social media and Safety communications throughout the year. Winners will be announced in June.
TEAMWORK CHALLENGE
We’re giving a month’s notice to prepare for the National Safety Month Team Challenge. This year, every location is challenged to achieve 100% participation in Safety training during the month of June.
- Goal: All employees at the location attend at least one of the following training courses offered (training schedules are posted locally at each division)
- June Safety Training
- Safe Start 2025.5 – General Safety awareness and review of Safe Start 2025 concepts
- How: Be sure to sign the attendance sheet available at the training you attend. Sign-in sheets will be used to determine who attended. If you’re a fully remote employee, you can attend training via Zoom.
- Reward: If 100% participation is achieved, the division will receive a special lunch of their choice in July (for all shifts). Share your suggestions with your Safety contact and HR Generalist.
We’ll announce contest winners the first week of June. We’ll also publish information throughout the month designed to help you Think Safe, Work Safe and Live Safe all year long.
