One Olympic Team Spotlight - Machelle Valle

Meet Machelle Valle, Quality Manager at Olympic Steel's Bettendorf, IA location and a member of our One Olympic Team Policy & Program Review Subcommittee.

In 2023, Olympic Steel reached a significant milestone in our diversity efforts by establishing employee-run One Olympic Council Subcommittees. These individuals volunteered to take part in this work, in addition to their regular job duties, because they each wanted to make a positive impact on our Company.

Each month, we’ll give you the opportunity to learn a little bit more about the employees helping to strengthen Olympic Steel’s culture. Last month we featured Amy Neyhard and this month…

Machelle Valle, Quality Manager, Olympic Steel

Q: What motivated you to become a DEI Council Member?

A: I believe we can always be better by learning from each other. We all have our own experiences and skills that can create wonderful things when collaborating.

Q: Share a unique fun fact or characteristic about yourself.

A: I was named Quality Manager of the Year in 2024.

Q: What’s your favorite thing about being an Olympic Steel employee?

A: Teamwork. Everyone is willing to jump in and help make things happen.

Q: In your opinion, what's a simple action everyone can take to make our Company a welcoming workplace?

A: Smile. Everyone has bad days, but smiling helps keep you positive and does not let the little things drag you down. Negativity is contagious, but so is positivity.

Q: When it comes to work, what’s your superpower? What special skill do you offer to support your co-workers/team?

A: I love a challenge. If someone brings me a challenge, I’ll dig in until I have a solution.

Q: What cultural/heritage celebration or tradition holds special meaning for you? Mind sharing why?

A: Family togetherness. Family is important and is a foundation to having a strong community to rally around you when needed.
