That belief is the driving force behind the ONE OLYMPIC Team – Olympic Steel’s culture and inclusion group dedicated to strengthening engagement and belonging across all divisions.
This month, we’re launching a new Odyssey column, ONE OLYMPIC – What Do They Do?, to highlight the work this team is doing to support our people and reinforce the culture that sets Olympic Steel apart. We’re starting with an initiative that’s already making a meaningful impact across the company: the rollout of enterprise translation tools.

PROJECT HIGHLIGHT
Supporting Inclusion Through Communication: Translation Tools for Every Division
A recent and impactful initiative from the ONE OLYMPIC Team is the introduction of translation tools across the organization. With a workforce that reflects a wide range of languages and backgrounds, clear communication is essential - especially when it comes to safety, training, and day‑to‑day operations.
To support this, the ONE OLYMPIC Team researched, tested and selected translation tools that are:
- Easy to use - on mobile devices and shared workstations
- Accurate and reliable - for both written and verbal translation
- Flexible - supporting real‑time conversations, document translation, and signage updates
These digital tools are available across the company. Early feedback has been positive, with employees reporting improved clarity, confidence and connection with their teams. Special thanks for our Communications & Engagement and Policy & Programs subcommittees for their work on this project.

When employees understand one another and the information they need to do their jobs safely and effectively, everyone wins. By breaking down language barriers, we’re strengthening communication, supporting inclusion, and helping every employee feel valued as part of the Olympic Steel team.
