Presenting MetalWorks

MetalWorks, based in Georgia, is a new addition to our manufactured metal products providing service station and solar canopies, floating docks and components.

HISTORY

In 2003, Ben Houston started MetalWorks in a friend’s downtown Atlanta warehouse with one employee, one vintage punch press and one product: deck clips for gas station canopy panels. About a year later, the company moved into a 20,000 sq. ft. building in Gainesville, GA, and began manufacturing canopy panels, gutters and trim along with the clips. By 2015, MetalWorks grew to 25 employees and built a new 36,000 sq. ft. building in Oakwood, GA. In 2023, they entered the solar canopy market.

In November 2024, MetalWorks joined Olympic Steel as part of our metal-intensive products portfolio. The business now operates out of 2 buildings with approximately 35 employees in nearly 49,000 sq. ft. of processing space on more than 8 acres.

PRODUCTS

MetalWorks manufactures service station and solar canopies, deck clips, long gutters, trims, and floating boat dock and ground mount racking components. Electric vehicle (EV) canopies incorporating shade, weather protection and solar panels are a more recent addition and area of growth. Panel roll forming and stamping lines produce long shapes and small parts and allow fabrication such as shearing, punching and forming.

Using primarily pre-painted galvanized steel, aluminum and galvalume (aluminum coated steel), MetalWorks products are available in lengths from 4 feet to 65 feet long. Their unique machinery can form metal into various shapes and run up to 200 feet a minute.

You can find MetalWorks products in many recognizable places throughout the U.S. and Canada:

  • Gas station canopies at Buc-ee’s, 7-Eleven, Costco, Wawa, Quik Trip and RaceTrac
  • Fast food drive-through canopies at Chick-fil-A and Sonic
  • Solar canopies for Rutgers University and NBC Universal Studios
  • Floating boat docks for dealers in the Southeast
  • Electric vehicle (EV) canopies/carports for charging stations and covered parking areas
