Safety Software Implementation Begins February 2026

Olympic Steel is excited to announce our upcoming safety software implementation, scheduled for 1Q2026. Once implemented, we’ll be able to better track, analyze and share important safety data, action items and training opportunities.

In 2025, we began the search for a safety SaaS (software as a service) program to help us record, track and analyze our safety data. After months of researching options and interviewing the short list of candidates, Ideagen EHS was selected to help us modernize Olympic Steel’s Safety Program.

Every Olympic Steel brand will utilize the new software – this means consolidated safety information that represents all segments of the business. Each location has identified two users who will complete administrative training for the system in January. While they’ll be “superusers” who will get the ball rolling, once the program is initially implemented, all employees will eventually be able to interact with the system via the mobile app.

HOW WILL WE USE THE SYSTEM?

There are a handful of modules available with this system. We will focus our initial implementation on the Incident Management System where we will enter incident information. Once the information is in the system, we’ll be able to share it with those who need to see it and we’ll immediately be able to analyze incident data.

Other modules that we’ll eventually utilize include:

  • A calendar and task management piece that allows us to assign corrective actions to individuals or locations post-incident. Using the system, we’ll also be able to send reminders to those assigned to the tasks to keep the process moving. And, we will be able to track the actions through completion.
  • A Safety Data Sheet module that will store our SDS information. This feature allows us to easily access the information needed and will also help us understand what products are being utilized across the organization.
  • An ESG element that helps us identify and track environmental governance compliance.
  • A Learning Management System (LMS) specifically for safety training that will allow us to assign specific training modules to employees by title, new hires, or as needed. This feature will be especially helpful in establishing a streamlined New Hire Safety Orientation.

Following successful implementation and utilization of the software, we will significantly reduce the time we currently spend gathering, analyzing and reporting safety data. While all of us are working through the transition to electronic reporting, please share your ideas and observations throughout the process. Chances are, if you have a question or issue, someone else does too. Let’s all work through it together!

WHAT’S NEXT?

Look for information locally about your location’s implementation timeline and process.
