Take a Brain Break for Alzheimer's Awareness Month
June is Alzheimer’s Awareness Month and we’re giving your brain a break with an Olympic Steel crossword puzzle for a chance to win one of 10 prizes.
Alzheimer’s disease is a type of dementia that affects memory, thinking and behavior. It’s a progressive disease that worsens over time and ultimately interferes with daily tasks. Alzheimer’s is not a normal part of aging, but age is the greatest known risk factor.
Research has shown that people can reduce their risk by making lifestyle changes, including regular physical and intellectual activity. Some studies indicate that maintaining strong social connections and keeping mentally active may lower the risk of cognitive decline because these activities strengthen connections between nerve cells in the brain.
