Truck Driver Appreciation Week 2026

This week let’s celebrate truck drivers and thank them for their role in safely transporting our products to our customers across the country.

Last year, drivers traveled over 26 million miles and delivered over 1 million tons of material for the Ryerson Family of Companies. Join us in celebrating our drivers and thanking them for all they do to safely transport metal across our network and to our customers.

 

DRIVER RECOGNITION

This year, we’ve joined Ryerson’s celebration that includes recognizing a few stand-out drivers. And, congratulations to our 2026 Driver of the Year and Honorable Mentions!

2026 DRIVER OF THE YEAR

Arturo Arranga

Olympic Steel - Gary, IN


Arturo has been a dedicated member of the AIM/Olympic Steel Team for over 15 years and has consistently demonstrated an unwavering commitment to safety, professionalism and exceptional customer service. Arturo ranks among the Top 10 Drivers in camera safety scores and has achieved zero preventable accidents. He regularly earns praise for his outstanding work ethic, reliability and dedication. Arturo takes pride in representing both companies and consistently goes above and beyond to ensure every job is completed safely, professionally and to our customers’ expectations. Arturo exemplifies the qualities of a true professional driver and serves as a role model for others throughout our organization.

2026 DRIVER OF THE YEAR

Michael Phillips

Ryerson - Tulsa, OK


Mike Phillips has been a part of our fleet for 8 years. He has driven 128,179 miles over a rolling 12 months while maintaining a perfect safety score of 100/100 (a value measuring performance of various safe driving behaviors). He has also had two positive alert driving instances during this time. Mike is an advocate for safe driving for Ryerson and regularly brings positive suggestions to Ryerson’s Corporate Logistics Team.

2026 HONORABLE MENTION

Rodney Pearson

Olympic Steel – Cleveland, OH


Rodney has been driving for Olympic Steel with our third-party logistics company, AIM, for 33.5 years. He began his career as a yard jockey, organizing semi-trailers within the warehouse to streamline freight movement within the plant. Through his performance and commitment, he earned a promotion into a local driver role where he continues to excel. His work ethic is truly above and beyond.

Jesse Henniger

Central Steel & Wire – University Park, IL


Jesse is a driver for the third-party logistics company, Nu-Way. He has been driving for 19 years and has spent the last seven years delivering metal for our Central Steel & Wire (CSW) location in University Park, IL.

Ronnie Brown

Olympic Steel – Cleveland, OH


Ronnie has 15.5 years of service driving for Olympic Steel with our third-party logistics company, AIM. He is ranked among the Top 10 Drivers (out of 53) for safety and performance. His camera score places him in the Top 18 Drivers across Olympic Steel and AIM, and he has recorded zero preventable accidents. Ronnie is a highly reliable driver who shows up every day focused on getting the job done.
